• If you must travel during a peak window (see below), lean toward the earlier end, three to four months out, because those dates sell first.

From other Indian cities you have two broad choices:

• Connect through Delhi and pick up the direct onward flight.
• Take a one-stop international route via Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Bangkok. Low-cost carriers on these hubs can be very competitive, particularly during promotions.

There is no single best route. The right one depends on where you live, your budget and how much layover time you can tolerate.
